Experience the Gulf Islands from the water, where the life of the sea is close up and exciting. See eagles, sea lions and seals in their natural habitat, maybe even a pod of dolphins or orcas as we explore the small bays and remote beaches in the area. We don’t have to go far from Gabriola before we start fishing. Some of the best sport is right outside the harbour at Silva Bay. The chinook salmon can be caught year round with the summer runs starting as early as April. By September we see some coho and pink salmon, then later on a run of chum arrive on their way to the rivers. From May to September, the lingcod season opens. These tasty fish range from 5 to 25 pounds. Recently halibut have been making a comeback around Gabriola. Last year several 15- to 50-pound beauties were caught, and the one that got away was six feet long! Come enjoy the sport, the stories, and the scenery.
